There are no set guidelines on how much fluid you should drink to stay hydrated. However, Mizone's Nutritionist, Jenny Yee, recommends drinking before you feel thirsty. A guide is between 1.5L - 2.0L (6-8 glasses) of fluid each day, more in high temperatures and if you are prone to excessive sweat loss. Note: some foods will also contribute to your total fluid intake.
It is important when exercising to monitor your fluid loss, the simplest way is to measure your body weight before and after the activity, with the difference being a good indication of how much fluid you have lost. One kilogram generally equals one litre of fluid - so aim to replace one and a half times the fluid lost.
